Editorial Promotional Photo Concepts
Below are some concepts I’ve put together for editorialized photos. I’d love to chat through what’s possible. Let’s connect once you’ve had a chance to review and share with the studio.
These images were all made using AI - and should not be considered with regards to styling or lighting - I’ve provided some reference and additional thoughts below for that.
A very simple approach just showing a sea of Dear Loves with one prominently centered. This would be the idea of “spreading the love.”
A simple poppy approach with gerber daisies. Something that says spring and flowers without it being roses. Would use fewer flowers in reality.
For a more Valentines Day approach, just showing Dear Love sitting amidst a full background of mylar heart shaped balloons. It catches the spirit of the holiday without being too cliché and remains poppy to stop you in the scroll.
Inspired by the idea of laying in bed all day reading- or having come back from a day venturing out.
Inspired by the passage about going to a brewery, or a juicery. Set up in a pub with warm light as if late afternoon.
This direction positions the book as a gift in a slightly more intimate way. I’d say this would skew more anniversary or birthday. Natural materials and a handwritten card or stationary .
Similar idea but café setting with a gallery guide or map of the Met.
This particular scenario would be more difficult in a studio, however this could be shot more top down on astroturf in a studio and infer the idea of riding through a new town.
Similar to the left, a picinic in the park scenario with subtle hints of human presence.
Inspired by the idea of cooking a meal together. Infering a little food fight or fun along the way.
Inspired by the passage regarding listening to favorite music together. Carefully curated vinyl leaning against the record player. Make it modern with more modern record player. Not intended to be nostalgic. Maybe a speaker to fill left side of frame.
Inspired by the passage about ordering take out and watching movies on the couch. With the glow of the tv. Feet in socks in the foreground would give it a human touch if possible.
Inspired by the idea of collecting shells on beach walk. This one could skew cheesey - could instead be the corner of a beach towel and just a little bit of sand.
Art Direction
Modern lighting
Stark, strong contrast, bright highlights, sharp detail, rich colors, deep shadows.
Minimal propping
Just the right items - not overdone or overthought. Keeping props minimal in their own aesthetics and complimentary to the book, not distracting.
Emotive Editorial
Pictures that tell a quick, story. Contextual hints to create a mood and build intrigue. A hint of wit or a wink when possible.
